A 21-year-old Baltimore man charged with second-degree murder rejects plea offer on Sept. 1 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Charles Christopher Mickens is charged with second-degree murder and firearm use in a violent crime in connection to an incident on June 7, 2020.
The prosecution presented a plea of 40 years for second-degree murder, and 20 years for firearm use in a violent crime. The defendant and his attorney, Tony Garcia, rejected the offer and waived Mickens’ Oct. 23 Hicks date on his clients behalf, which is his right to be tried within 180 days of his first court appearance under Maryland state law.
Mickens’ four day trial is scheduled on Jan. 3, 2022, with Judge Gregory Sampson presiding.
