21-Year-Old Man Takes Plea in Oldtown Shooting Last Year

A Baltimore man accused of shooting a 35-year-old man in Oldtown in September 2021 agreed to the terms of the prosecution’s plea offer on Sept. 19.

Devin Anthony was charged with a shooting on the 400 block of East Baltimore Street on Sept. 14, 2021. The defendant initially faced multiple counts of attempted first and second-degree murder as well as multiple assault and firearms charges.

On Monday, a Baltimore City assistant state’s attorney assigned to the case presented Anthony, 21, with a plea offer of 30 years, suspending all but 22 years, for attempted second-degree murder; a consecutive 20 years, suspending all but 20 years, for first-degree assault; a concurrent eight years, the first five years without parole, for firearm use in a felony violent crime; and a concurrent three years for having a handgun on his person.

The offer also required five years of supervised probation upon the defendant’s release from prison and stated that Anthony must register as a gun offender.

Defense attorney Brandon Taylor represented Anthony during the proceedings before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams.
