A 21-year-old Baltimore man was found guilty of 15 of 27 charges in connection to a mass shooting incident that occurred outside a tobacco shop in the Frankford Gardens shopping center last September. Jurors delivered their verdict within hours of the trial’s conclusion on Sept. 8.
Zavon Beasley, 21, was found guilty of four counts each of attempted first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony crime of violence, as well as one count of reckless endangerment and multiple other firearm violations.
The incident, which occurred Sept. 19, 2024 on the 5300 block of Frankford Avenue, left four victims injured and allegedly endangered a girl sitting in the back of a blue Honda. The girl was reportedly three years old at the time of the shooting.
During closing arguments, defense attorney Jason Rodriguez continued to claim investigators identified Beasley as the primary suspect based solely on the mannerisms and gait of the shooter as captured in area surveillance footage.
The prosecution called Rodriguez’s claims untrue, noting multiple investigators positively identified Beasley as the suspect via clear stills taken from the footage.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Paul E. Alpert presided over the trial.
Beasley has yet to receive a sentencing date.
