2018 Homicide Defendant Sentenced for 17-Year-Old’s Death

At the retrial of a homicide defendant on Oct. 17, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland sentenced him to an aggregate of 40 years for four separate indictments.

Shawn Little, 26, was charged with second-degree murder and three separate indictments for attempted second-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Ray Glasgow in 2018.

In January, a jury found Little not guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Little, who was represented by Linda Zeit, previously signed a contract with the prosecution as part of a plea offer he accepted, which stated he would testify against his two co-defendants, Eric Jackson and Bradley Mitchell.

On Tuesday, the prosecution told the court that Little’s testimony changed at trial when he claimed that he didn’t remember what happened and that he was the shooter.

Though the prosecution stated they didn’t believe Little was the shooter, they advocated for the maximum sentence allowable by the plea agreement.

The prosecution also shared statements from Glasgow’s family. His parents said that Glasgow was a star athlete and that Little “took away the heart of our family.”

Judge Copeland found the statements from Glasgow’s family and the prosecution compelling and sentenced Little to 40 years for second-degree murder and 30 years each for three counts of attempted second-degree murder, all to run concurrently.

According to charging documents, on May 5, 2018, Baltimore Police Department officers responded to a shooting on the 100 block of South Broadway. All three codefendants were driving by the car with Glasgow and three others inside, when they stepped out of their car, approached Glasgow and one of them shot him and another person in the car.

According to statements made by Zeit, Jackson believed the occupants of the other car robbed him, which motivated the shooting.

Mitchell and Jackson fled the state, while Little stayed and was identified by a witness as one of the suspects.
