Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn presided over reception court on Oct. 25, which included two non-fatal shooting cases.
One of the defendants, 32, is charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, neglect of a minor, discharging firearms, illegal possession of ammunition, and illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
The prosecution presented a plea of five years for second-degree assault, one year for discharging firearms, and five years, suspending all but one year, for illegal possession of ammunition.
Defense attorney Thomas Ashwell has yet to relay this offer to the defendant.
A trial date has been set for May 9, 2022.
Another non-fatal shooting case heard in reception court involved two women who were shot and taken to the hospital for non-threatening injuries.
Eric Terry, 35, is charged with four counts of attempted second-degree murder, four counts of first-degree assault and five counts of second-degree assault, four counts of reckless endangerment, felony use of a firearm in a violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession of firearms, illegal possession of ammunition, and discharging firearms.
According to CBS Baltimore, Terry allegedly shot two women on the 4200 block of Bonner Road on Jan. 3. The two women were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
On Monday, the defendant chose to waive his right to a speedy trial. Under Maryland law, a defendant has the right to be tried by their Hicks’ date, or within 180 days of their first appearance in court.
A trial date has been set for March 16, 2022.
