16-Year-Old Takes February 2026 Trial Date For Double Shooting

A 16-year-old will go to trial as an adult in Baltimore City Circuit Court for a double shooting in 2024 following defense counsel’s failed petition to transfer the case to juvenile court.

During a Nov. 24 reception court hearing, the prosecuting attorney and defense counsel, Tony Garcia, for Jamari Samuel Davis told Judge Melissa M. Phinn that the case was previously in mental health court and juvenile court. According to the Maryland Judiciary, Davis submitted a plea of not criminally responsible in March but was deemed competent to stand trial the next month.

His petition to transfer his case to juvenile court was denied on Oct. 8.

Judge Phinn and counsel agreed on a three-day trial, beginning Feb. 11, 2026, before Judge M. Brooke Murdock.

Davis is accused of the attempted murder of two male victims on Aug. 1, 2024, on the 4900 block of Aberdeen Avenue. Court documents reported that Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers were called to the 4800 block of Sinclair Lane for a reported shooting and found one victim with gunshot wounds to the back to his head, torso and right arm.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and later released.

Police identified Davis during their review of video surveillance footage. Detectives posted still images from the recovered video footage, leading to the identification of the defendant, according to statement of charges. A second victim was also identified and reported to be sitting in the other victim’s front passenger seat at the time of the shooting.
