Defendant Found Not Guilty in McCulloh Street Murder

Maurice Jones, 29, was found not guilty of the murder of 23-year-old Montez Barrett on July 11.  After final testimonies and closing arguments were delivered on Friday, the jury deliberated and found Jones not guilty of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony or violent crime and two counts of firearm possession with a prior felony conviction.  No verdict was rendered for four other charges, including having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, having a loaded handgun on his person and having a loaded handgun in a vehicle.  Previously, a forensic scientist from the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) testified that none of theek fingerprints recovered from the scene matched those of Jones.
